Strengthening Home and Family
"She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
Proverbs 31:27-28
Easy Baked Apples
Every year for as long as I remember, my Mom always made Baked Apples for Christmas morning breakfast. When I was a kid, I didn't really like it. I liked the crust part, but not the baked apple part. As I've grown up, I've realized that the apple part is good too.
And I've learned how to make them. Really, really easily.
First make up a batch of baking powder biscuits but with loads of extra sugar. You can find a great recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens Recipe Book or here.
Then peel your apples. Then use an apple slicer to core and slice the apple (Although slicing them before cooking makes it harder to handle when you prepare them, this makes it easier to eat after they are cooked).
After slicing the apples, begin to wrap them. Don't close it up yet though, you need to add some butter, cinnamon and sugar. Put in as much as you want.
Then close them up and put them in a 9x13 in. greased pan. Bake for an hour or so at 350 degrees or until the apples are done.
Then serve them with milk, cool whip, or as my husband likes it, with ice cream.
Delicious!
